Gas Saving Tips:
Here are some basic tips on saving gas that anyone can do to help us save money. These tips do not require you to change any parts, but does require you to change your driving habits. Warm-up the engine:
Your car gets better gas mileage when it is warm, so warm it up. Of course letting your car just sit idling will waste gas, but a 1 minute warm-up will help. In the winter, you can use a block warmer to keep the engine warm.
Don't start and stop the engine:
Don't start and stop engine every time you make a stop. Idling your engine for few minutes consumes the about gas amount equivalent to when you start the engine.
Revving the engine:
Avoid revving the engine at anytime. Some old cars may require this, but just about every car after 95 has a computer that does all the work. If you need to rev your car, take it to an auto shop
Avoid Lead Footing it:
Accelerate slowly when starting from dead stop. Use the gas lightly and you will definitely save on gas. In some cars, If you drive like a grandma, your cars computer will learn of this and help you on saving gas.
Get more gas for the same money:
Buy gasoline during cooler parts of the day or on a cool day. The pump measures the volumes of gas you pump and warm gas is less dense. I find it very easy to pump my gas on my way to work and I am getting more gas.
